Typical applications
Below is where this material actually ends up — the specific parts, not just the industry. Compare it with your own service conditions, or send us the environment and we will advise.
- Pressure vessels — shell courses, heads, flanges
- Chemical and pharma — reactors, heat exchanger tube sheets
- Offshore — seawater piping, platform structural parts
- Food machinery — large mixing tanks, fermenters
- Duplex applications — 2205 as the upgrade path in high-chloride service
Selection FAQ
- Can medium plate be tested?
- Yes — UT or PT on request; cost and lead time depend on the extent of testing.
- 2205 or 316L?
- With high chloride (seawater, brine, chemical media) 2205 is the better fit: roughly twice the strength of 316L and better resistance to stress corrosion cracking — but welding is more demanding.
